UCL Masters in Civil Engineering

As an engineer I have a keen interest in maths and physics and I particularly enjoy teaching trigonometry and atomic physics. Both these subjects can be tricky to understand, and so I like to make sure my students grasp each part of a new concepts to apply in exam questions and even relate to real life situations.

I've been tutoring for a total of around 5 years now and have enjoyed every minute of it! Having previously taught levels ranging from key stage 2 to first-year degree courses and postgrad medicine I am very happy with most areas of maths, mechanics, and physics. I take great pride in seeing my students go on to achieve such a wide variety of accomplishments - previous students of mine have gone on to become doctors, nautical engineers, study Mechanical Engineering at Edinburgh, and Biochemistry at Oxford.

Hannah
Economics degree UCL, 1st class.
Currently working as a freelance financial journalist as well as tutoring.

My work as a financial reporter gives me an edge as a tutor. I explain complicated ideas to a global audience every day. Thinking from the perspective of my readers has prepared me well for tutoring, where I identify and address gaps in students' knowledge. I've helped students grow both their confidence and their grades through tutoring. For me, the best part of being a tutor is bringing out the best in my students.

I love all things history, from the Ottomans to the Russian Revolution! I thoroughly enjoy working with my students as it's rewarding to nurture their inquisitive minds and channel their individual passions academically. I learn from my students as much as they learn from me. To see a student grow and excel in their studies is one of the most rewarding feelings.

My first interest when teaching literature is always in the shared experience between the author and the student; in the attitudes and emotions that they have in common. When that sympathetic link is established, and the study of literature becomes spiritual rather than merely theoretical, the youngest student can show the most extraordinary insight. It's enabling that faculty in students that I fond most rewarding.
